I have a standard 18-55mm lens and i would like a bit more of a wide angle for those close ups and 'panda portrait' moments.
I can't afford the £500+ asking price for a proper lens, but i've seen the screw on the front lens adaptors on eBay that are going for £10-£30.

Like this:

Are they any good or will they kill image quality ?

I'm also considering the same type of thing for macro images, again adaptors like this:

Buy it now for £23. Should i?

I bought one of those .45x adaptors a few years ago. They're OK for effect shots, but the distortion and chromatic aberrations really aren't pretty, especially in wider shots and in particular outdoors. Three examples below, all shot with a 35mm f2 Nikkor lens at f4 on a Nikon D600.

35mm:

with wide-angle:

with macro only:

^^^^ They don't look too bad to me 😉

Anyone tried them with action shots/ up in the trees looking down at a trail type thing? That's what i'm going to be using them for mostly.
