Morning folks,

I’m looking for a wide angle camera that records GPS positioning.

I like the fact that photos taken with my iPhone have the gps location embedded within them and wondered if there’s an alternative wide angle camera that can do this?

I use a cheap Mobius action camera at the moment as he fixed wide angle lens is great and it’s much more convinient that getting my iPhone out when on the trails etc. Unfortunately it doesn’t record any GPS data though.

Do the GoPro cameras do this? Anything else to look at?

Cheers

My Lumix TZ40 does this. I use it for path surveys.

Shimano did one with ant connectivity I think that would link to a gps

Most of the newer GoPros have GPS built in. The Hero 7 Black or Hero 7 Silver do anyway.
Or find a cheap Hero (2018), and replace the firmware to make it into a Hero 5 Black (with GPS).

Or you could use a separate GPS device to record a track, then synchronise that with the photos afterwards, to geotag your photos. Just make sure the time is set correctly on the camera, it helps for accurate geotagging.

Depends how wide you want. My Oly TG5 does it as will some Garmin Virbs.

The Virb Edit (free) software will stitch together GPS/GPX data with footage, if you want to do it that way
