There is
if you define a proper sit-up as
- not all the way down
- not all the way up
- fingertips to sides of forehead
- elbows out
...that's going to be a very difficult thing to do in one go.
1. sit ups don't get rid of your belly.
2. Christ! as many as I can manage in one minute leaves me almost unable to stand (nearly fell over backwards last time I did it whilst training with our schools football team).
Press ups hurt but you stand up and feel ok, sit ups hurt more, and when you stand up [s]you[/s] I fall over in agony!

Crunches are better than sit-ups right? I used to do a few sets of 30 and and then some hanging leg raises that was a killer ab workout in far shorter time than many spend on doing sit-ups.
