Honestly, just because YOU think something is harmless fun doesn't mean that everyone does. I can imagine it's pretty unpleasant to have your own name turned into an insult, and probably endure endless bloody stupid jokes about it forever and have your feelings dismissed with 'oh we're just kidding it's nothing' when you complain. Which brings me on to:
Stop trying to water everything down to the point where we won’t even be able to do comedy soon.

During the Falklands War troops were told they should not refer to the locals as 'Bennies' so after that they became 'stills'. Name-calling is not witty or clever but is a bullying method for shutting people up and 'putting them in their place'. It is frequently found amongst poor and stigmatized groups and is a socially conservative sneer. On the other hand, name-calling can be good if you see yourself as below average and need cheering up, it's another form of going on the lash.
