Quite often, my app will close itself down whilst I'm mid-article.
On android - happens about half the times I'm using it, and I haven't noticed it happen from the front page, only when I've opened an article. Usually gives me a couple of minutes to get halfway through, then just closes.
Any ideas...?!

Ah... Mine does that too, but only on my Huawei Mediapad tablet, not on my Sony XZ1 Compact. I assumed I was reading something the Chinese government didn't want me to see.

I've noticed the past few days that there is a formatting issue with guardian articles on my samsung phone using chrome.
I scroll down and then the entire screen will suddenly go totally black mid article. Scroll down a bit further and after a few seconds the next line of text appears at the very top of the screen.
Yes it is actually closing the app.
Interestingly, my phone is a Huawei, as per owg's tablet. Wonder if its to do with the (in)famous Huawei power management...
