I have an aged Acer laptop whose screen decided to pretty much pack in a while back. Connected to an external monitor and all is fine.
New screen or could it be a cable problem?
Yes....
Most laptops have a strip and rebuild guide somewhere, it's normally a big of a faff but your if you think it's worth a look give it a go for the cable. The sceen price may make it pointless going further though
Cable is always favourite but can you see anything at all on the screen? Sometimes by shining a torch at it or at an angle you might just be able to make out something. In that case it'll be the back light.
It's a blood red with low contrast, so as good as black.
If you raise and lower the lid does it come to life or partially?
Typically it's the cable and they tend to break at the hinge.
Inverter, then.
