The clutch on my Saab 93 is beginning to slip so it needs to be replaced.
My local garage has quoted me £400 for the clutch £150 for fitting.
So trying to save a bit of money, I have looked on-line and have found a number of possible replacements, but I am unsure of which is the best quality/ cost for my dollar?
Option 1 Sachs Xtend kit with CSC (Might as well replace at the same time) for £311.
Option 2 Borg & Beck plus CSC for £270
Option 3 LUK 3 in 1 for £260.
Anyone able to help out?
Cheers!
EDIT: Do I need to replace the flywheel at the same time or is it just the cover, drive plate and concentric slave cylinder?
Diesel ? If so budget for a dual mass flywheel too as very rare to find one ok if the clutch has worn out.
Which engine ?
150 for fitting is a bargain
all 3 makers you list , Sachs,Luk, B7B are big names in that arena
and the prices are very similar.
Flywheel only needs replacement or refacing if it is badly scored
and I mean really bad, unless it a DMF.
suggest search on saabscene forums for advice about your specific model.
(I replaced a clutch myself last weekend its a nasty job, so I can be definite about the 150 being a bargain)
Btw, got an email yesterday about a new saab after sales company called Saab torque. Worth looking at?
You might find when you turn up with your internet sourced clutch the price for fitting goes up or even worse for you they dont want to know about it ....
Cheers for the replies,
The engine is the 2.2Tid.
I am leaning toward the B&B clutch. Any reason the other two are any better??
Aussi you might want to clarify with the garage that they have quoted 400 for just the clutch as 5 minutes looking for a saab93 clutch im finding prices of 400 quid for dmf + clutch ....
