I'm after a new laptop, and wondered which brands have the best screens. I'll be calibrating it using a Spyder3, but want a good start point. A quick look at PCworld was useless as they have PCWorld branded screenlocks.

most laptops are 6bit panels dithered to 8bit.
the matte high res screens on 15 and 17in macbooks are quite good, dunno if there are any pc-laptops using the same panel.
if your spider supports it (the elite does, dunno about the others) you should calibrate to a native colourspace not D65 to make the most of the limited gamut.
