To be used mainly running with Strava.
My maximum budget is 150 and I don't mind second hand.
I've got an Garmin FR15 it's good, ummm, it's white.... 🙄
If you don't need HRM and have an android phone you could get a Sony Smar****ch 3. Has its own GPS so you can leave the phone behind on runs and rides if you like.
Polar m400
Bluetooth connectivity for your phone.
Normal USB connection so no docks. Completely waterproof.
Dedicated cycling mode.
I'm really impressed with mine.
I'll have a Forerunner 220 with HRM up for sale for £75 in a week's time.
If you don't need heart rate, the Forerunner 10 is cheap and simple. Works fine for uploading to Strava etc.
Flaperon, if it's this one it seems perfect.
Does it come with leads etc?
Could you please send pics to breninbroga at gmail dot com?
if its simply to track where you've been and upload to Strava, Garmin 10 is no nonsense, lightweight solution. if you think you'll use it on the bike, perhaps HRM and pacing functions, the 310xt is available within your budget (but its bulky compared to the 10)
Flaperon, i'm curious what you are planning to replace the 220 with? if you are at all?
Flaperon, are you still selling the 220?
Yep, my Fenix 3 turned up yesterday so the Forerunner is up for grabs. Immaculate condition, screen protector from new, boxed with a two month old heart rate transmitter and two week old replacement soft strap ('cos I accidentally put the original in the tumble dryer 🙁 )
£75 posted, can send photos tomorrow if you want (at work now).
Ooh, fenix 3 was on my list but unavailable. If it's now for sale I think I'll go for one of them.
I'm sure you'll have no problem in selling the 220.
Where did you get the new watch from?
If Iola isn't interest please send me some pics. Email in profile.
I've got a 220, and it's my most used bit of kit. Really good watch.
Is there a good reason for not using the Strava app on a phone?
Apart from it not being a watch.
I like to go without my phone so no contact with nobody calling or whatever.
A phone bounes around in your pocket.
If it hammers down with rain, I don't want my expensive phone getting wet (I have already killed an iphone like this).
You have a watch (as you say).
It's always on your arm.
Strava kill the battery on a phone.
And so on.
Where did you get the new watch from?
Cotswold Outdoor. But if you order now you'll be joining the back of a long queue.
^^ Also what iolo said. But the 220 tracks cadence, gives vibration alerts for low cadence / pace / heart rate etc, battery lasts ages, and it'll give rough distance / speed when on a treadmill. Also, you get heart rate tracking which is a bit of a faff on a phone.
@Flaperon - I'll take the 220 if nobody else has claimed it yet!
Email in profile - let me know!
Cheers,
Nick
