Looking at another pair of trekmates, but will check the Rabs out - which model did you go for?

Thanks

I think brand is less important than the material. Goretex doesn't breathe well when cold so you'll end up with soggy socks from the inside as gaiters won't get much body heat.

I'd pick whichever pair you can get in Event fabric, which ime is very breatheable.

I have some LoweAlpine triple-point ones which are much better than my wifes berghaus goretex. I have a feeling Lowe have ditched triple point though...

Cheapo Trekmates are fine - well mine appear to be so.

I've never had any breathability issues with them, and they do the job.

Cheers all

Ricb - Gortex is my usual in gaiters, outside that for me its down to the quality of the peripherals, straps, buckles etc

nickname - trekmates look the business again to be fair

Dont buy Mountain Warehouse ones as the press studs come undone. On another note why do modern gaiters zip at the front? .Old ones from the 80s zipped at the rear which made more sense in terms of water ingress and the velcro getting pulled undone

Been using these recently - Extremities Novagaiters.

Really like them. Adaptable enough to fit summer and winter boots without much adjustment. Great fit, good zip.

They were a replacement for a pair from Outdoor Research which were too short/baggy.

Bought some cheap £10 Hi Gear ones from Go Outdoors and they worked well in the snow this Xmas. Well made e.g. the strap underneath the boot is solid and kept feet etc dry. Bought the G/F some branded Blacks ones for £20 and TBH not twice as good as the Hi Gear ones but slightly better in some respects and in a nicer colour !!!!
