RL Burnside and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes live at the Greek has some good blues numbers on it.

Hendrix was an incredible blues guitarist.Search for Red House, Hear My Train a Comin, Voodoo Chile, plenty of others. After that I like old school stuff like Howlin Wolf, John Lee Hooker etc.

+1 Bonamassa... Also Davey Knowles, Oli Brown and Joanne Shaw Taylor, the modern faces of british blues.

BB King is the master of taste, while SRV was 100% feel... there's way too many to list.

FCOL knottie, you're not going for a walk, in the dark, on the Q's are you??? You OK?

Bit late to the party but would echo some of the above. Joe Bonamassa is awesome, as is Steve Ray Vaughan/B B King/Jimi. Also check out Aynsley Lister who's more rock/blues, as is the earlier stuff of Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

Don't forget that some of the STW guys are putting together another jam session. 8) stratobiker will be able to supply a link to the others. 🙂

Could you please let us know when you get back safely?

As Well as those already mentioned ;
Junior Wells - Hoodoo Man Blues
Allman Brothers - Live at the Fillmore East
Rory Gallagher - Live in Europe
Anything by Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins, Otis Rush, Sonny Boy Williamson..............
Should be a start.

rubberneck, interesting suggestions, i've been looking for a replacement for the black keys now that they've gone shit.

Junior Kimbrough was one of the black key's inspirations, check out their chulahoma LP for fuzzed out, grimy swamp blues. JK's "All night Long" is a classic.

Enjoying Freddie McDowell at the moment, Mississippi blues is a classic finger picking album.

Hound Dog Taylor for some classic slide, if it still exists there's some classic footage of him from the fifties, grainy!

I got a Santana bootleg called "Soul Sacrifice" which kicks the ass out of any of his studio stuff, really murky, fuzzy latin beats with some brilliant clear solos ringing out over the top, can't find it in shops now but it was released by delta music.

edit: apologies, too many 'classics', I've been on the whisky...

All of the above

I also like Paul Butterfield Blues Band, East/West

Howlin' Wolf's London sessions are a good way into Howlin' Wolf

Skip James all the way all right!
Also Son House, Charley Patton, Tommy Johnson..... actually any blues records from the 1920s and early 1930s there are masses of them and not a dud amongst them.
