Looking for a set of winter tyres, 195 / 65 / 15 for the car.
Are there any good deals abount at the moment.
Ideally I'd like to get them on a cheap set of steels so it's easy for me to change.
Any reccommendations on midrange winter tyres??
my tyres - thread earlier this week do a search and you'll find it.
Be careful with mytyres if you're in a rush. It seems from a few threads on Pistonheads that they say they have stock when they don't.
There won't be any good deals about at the moment on any decent brands.
Both Evo and Autoexpress have reviews this month:
I think the Evo results are as follows (6 winter tyres, 3 all season, 1 summer for comparison). Even the budget winter tyres were better than the known brand summer.
1. Continental Wintercontact 830P, Rating: 90.5%
2. Michelin Alpin A4, Rating: 90.4%
3. Pirelli Sottozero W240 Serie 2, Rating: 90.1%
4. Goodyear Ultra Grip Performance 2, Rating: 89.5%
5. Vredestein Quatrac 3, Rating: 89.0%
6. Dunlop SP Winter Sport 4D, Rating: 87.9%
7. Hankook Optimo 4S, Rating 87.8%
8. Nangkang Snow SV-2, Rating 82.9%
9. Kumho Solus Vier, Rating 80.8%
10. Continental Sportcontact 3 61.5%
Just got some Falkens for my Bro. Good price from a big independent, Hawleys in Sheffield.

What, off the top of your head... are you sure you didn't cut and paste that 😉

I used Conti winter contacts last year btw and couldn't fault them. Kwikfit, slightly bizarrely, were as competitive as anyone else I found and more convenient with it.
A friend of mine at work has just bought some winter tyres from Camskill after I suggested he tried them for price.
They were by far the cheapest for the tyre size he was after.
BUT, for my tyre size they were very expensive. So, I think it's best to shop around.
They also just supply tyres - not fitted with steelies.
You can probably get steel wheels from a main dealer for not a great deal of cash (£40/wheel or so)
As above, mytyres do wheel & tyre sets and are generally quite competitive.
My steelies/winter tyres arrived from mytyres yesterday, ordered them on the 7th.
Very happy so far, they look to be exactly as described - fitted and balanced. Delivered from Germany by DPD, who seem to be one of the more sensible courier companies.
