Want to get a new suit. Dont wear one often but want it to be nice when I do wear one. Needs to be less than £400.

Anyone recommend where to get one? TM Lewin is all that springs to mind. Shopping in London later this arvo.

Hawes & Curtis; their suits are fantastic value even at £239 which is full RRP, but frequently discounted.

M and S (slimfit if you're not a biffer). Oh a sir should consider two trousers if wearing frequently.

Suit Supply - they start at around your budget. Lots of styles. Offer adjustment service.
Or John Lewis are good IF you have a brand you like that they sell, the choice is a bit limited.

If you pick a local tailor, not G&S etc, you can get a handmade suit for around £400. I've done this on a number of occasions. I can recommend in the Leeds area.

That's the weird thing; they don't advertise tehir suits - but they will have a full range in store. Also, if you ask for a corporate card, they will just give you one in exchange for your emial address and you get 10% off there and then.

There's a few ted baker outlets around. The cut really suits my build; broad in the shoulder but quite a slim trunk and large of thigh.
Most other of the peg suits look like potato sacks on me.
Nice linings (IMHO), quite nice colours.
Normally around £200 (from the outlets), so you could get 2!

I bought one from TMLewin and it had a distictly third world feel about its manufacture and quality. A trouser clasp fell off as it came out of the box. The suit went back pronto and I got one from Austin Read instead as you can order jackets and trousers seperately.

Try TK Maxx.

I have a number of big-label suits, and I have never paid more than £150 for them.

You just have to check back frequently enough to find a nice on ein your size.

I stopped buying anything from TM Lewin a while back, the quality is crap.

Check out Reiss...Good suits for that money. Although I didn't get one and ended up with a nice M&S one.

I've started buying all my business clothers at Charles Tyrwhitt.

The shirts in particular are simply beautiful and the suits I've bought there are excellent quality. Best fitting clothes I've ever worn.

I bought a tyrwhitt shirt in a recent sale. Despite fitting at the collar, it was like a tent. Nicely made though.

I once bought an M&S suit as everyone was recommended them - lining fell out after not very long...

M&S or Reiss do nice ones for around your budget, they'll be one the fashionable side, but should last a good few years as flares and comedy lapels aren't due a resurgence anytime soon.

If you're near the City, then Copperfields on the corner of Moorgate and London Wall is about as good as you'll get for that sort of money.
I'd try and go somewhere that'll tailor it slightly, a little tuck in the jacket around the waist or slimming in the trousers transforms it from an off the peg number to something that looks ten times better.

Charles Tyrrirhwti do have a looser fit, you need to go for the slim or even tailored fit (my preference) if you're anything but a bifter.

TM Lewin are worse than useless espeically the shirts I bought one of their uber shirts and have to have it dry cleaned as it's not possible to iron it.

Next, mix and match kecks and jackets.

Suits me as I am or a large build in the arms and chest but don't have a complimenting large arse and fat legs so I need slimmer kecks than the chest size of the jacket would normally get.

Second John Lewis (or House of Fraser). Biggest choice and variation of budget.

Oxfam or other charity shops will usually have some suits in but may have been owned by a dead person at some point.
