Planning on escaping the wetness (sorry ... summer!) and considering heading to France for a week or two of road cycling and hiking in early / mid September.
Not really sure what area to aim for, but looking for the following:
- warm and dry and sunny in early September
- undulating roads (not really looking for Alpine cols, but not flat either), and good hiking opportunities
- easy to get to: considering the Bike Express route, but flying or ferry an option to. Don't want to hire a car, so either cyclable from the Bike Bus drop-off or transfers available from the airport.
Any ideas? Or specific recommendations of places to stay?
italy.
last 3 years we have played in the alps on the swiss/italian/french border.
3 years in a row its been pissing down and 12 degrees on the france side, and glorious sunshine / 33 degrees on the italy side.
