A long lost mate is staying at junction 25 for work next week, and we are meeting up for a curry. But what with kids and so on, I'm about 5 years behind the news on curry houses round here, so where would all you experts recommend?

Tasty and good value over the whole "fine dining/fusion" nonsense, preferably. And a 50/50 chance of finding the car undamaged afterwards!

Thank you

Haveli in Chilwell gets good reviews.

Forgotten name of place on main road in Borrowash is good and cheaper.

After a quick google, would that be Rajni or Bay of Bengal?

Google threw up an old but interesting headline relating to one of them 😕

Bay of Bengal, as you say Rajni brings up "interesting" headline!

Glad to hear Gee Ja Gees is still going. It used to be my local and favourite curry house 10+ years ago - even though I lived 10 miles away from it 🙂

If he doesn't mind heading into to town Tamatanga is great value and tastes cracking!

2-4-1 curry bowl vouchers with cinema tickets from cineworld or £6 for curry and drink before 6 during the week

I live in Long Eaton and the local ones I frequent:

Tandoori Nights in Shardlow
Al-Naseeb in Long Eaton (got it mixed up with Haveli's in Chilwell)

Haveli's is good but pricy. They have an early doors option but you have to vacate tables by a certain time.

Going to try the others when I can be asked....

Anoki
London road in Derby, or near the ice stadium in Nottingham

I ride past tandori nights on my commute, always smells very nice and the sudden hunger the smell creates is annoying when you've got another 16 miles left!

Or go early or late then it's 2 for 1 and pretty reasonable -

Early diners can take advantage of our terrific 2 for 1 deal, 7 days a week*

*Applies to tables arriving before 6pm and vacating by 7:30pm, or arriving after 9:30pm and vacating by 12:00am, including Saturdays. Applies to main course only - pay for one main course and a second main course of equivalent value or less will be free of charge. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
