Daughter has recently resurrected our old Pentax SLR camera and having fun using it, where's best to get the films developed these days? Rough cost for a 36 roll and can places save pics digitally on memory stick too? I was just going to try Boots but I'm completely out of touch so anywhere else? Cheers
One of the bigger Boots or Asda super centres should do it. Go for a busier one in a larger town as the chemicals in the film processor will be kept in better condition from having more use. They can scan the negs to CD or DVD, or may be able to save to USB depending on their knowledge of the equipment. Where are you based?
They take pictures on celluloid these days? Are my glass plate negs old skool now???? 😯
Depends where you are, but in Leeds I go to the little place round the corner from me in Headingley for colour development, and do B&W myself.
Boots development is okay, but their scanning last time I tried it was dire. Really crap resolution and grainy as hell, got better scans from my mate's ebay-special Canoscan.
I've used http://www.photofilmprocessing.co.uk with success in the past.
Thanks for the tips, hope they turn out okay
I use my local Asda for colour, B&W is harder to get processed so I ended up sending it away to AG Photolab who did a speedy turnaround for about £9 a roll.
I still enjoy shooting on film, there's a special quality to it that you can't get with digital and it teaches you to think about what you're shooting and not snap away.
I use my local Big Boots, their photo staff are really helpful and know their stuff, but probably can be hit or miss depending on your store.Mine develop in no time at all, if its quiet they have them ready in about 30mins for me and saved onto a cd for a couple of quid extra, I think it is a Fuji machine they use, so the same as a lot of other places out there (most seem to be fuji or Kodak) and I like the colours it gives more than the kodak ones. I always make sure they are done on site and never sent away as I have had films go missing over the years when using mail order/mass produced places.
