Taking off from Prestwick around 2pm today, it was low, big and scary. And big.

Been inside one - not quite as big as an Antonov, but still pretty huge

C17. We had one over the house last week, aiming for the Lairig Ghru. Very low and makes a distinctive whine compared to the fast jets we normally get.

Definitely a C-17, they became a depressingly common sight around North Wiltshire, flying into what was then RAF Lyneham, soon to be followed by a solemn procession through Royal Wootton Basset as yet another military casualty was returned home. While many people around here miss the Fat Alberts and other aircraft buzzing around, I don't think anyone misses the repatriation flights.
