What’s this beast??

Wildlife pond - looks like a tiny stick is walking around on the bottom but it’s actually a little beast that is presumably using it as a home / some sort of protection - front end looks a bit like some sort of dragonfly larva - you can just about see the legs.

Probably a caddis fly larvae, they glom small bits of twig together into a tube, which the larvae lives inside. They also build tubes out of tiny bits of gravel and sand, so it looks like a mosaic tube.

Perhaps we need a difficult ID challenge thread. I am of the opinion that there is nothing in the Universe that someone on Singletrack can’t identify….
