Guy murdered his wife with a hammer a few years ago while their son slept upstairs. Police had to wake him up and tell him. And that's in Swaledale!

The old man used to live in Lagos in Nigeria in the 80s. Armed (guns) robbers broke in whilst he was away and stole the jewellery off my mum's fingers (amongst other things). She stopped them from taking her sunglasses because she explained to them they were prescription. She's a cool customer.

A year later there was a military coup and there was a big gun battle in the streets around the house. Some guy got machine-gunned against our gate.

Fortunately when both these incidents happened I was away in the UK 😯

A keen gardener was stunned when police threatened him with a fine for a public order offence - because his garden hedge was shaped like a phallus.

Lucky! These days they just machete off the arm and ask questions later.

Murder about half mile away last weekend. Locher Water near bridge of weir. You might have seen it in the bbc news. Rode past the spot 4 times on Sunday, and was at one point tens of feet from where the body was found on Monday. Sounds like it was there when I was there but luckily I didn't see anything. CID was interviewing everyone who'd been past the spot...grim

I stored a magazine in a data retrieval system.

Well let’s face it, what’re they going to do? It’s not as if they know where I live.

I've been only a few doors away from at least two murders. House raided for guns down the street. Cannabis farm raided opposite. All kinds of stuff. Had the police knock on our door several times (in different houses) looking for people who used to live there, lived next door, etc. Rent is cheap though 🙂

The policewoman killed the day after the charlie hebdo attack was directly outside the window of my office at work. I still look out the window at the tributes left by the side of the road every day.

This is such a grim thread.
Think I'll turn over the channel.

One of the London bombers lived within spitting distance. They came for him while I was back visiting my mum, so I missed all the action.

Murder about 100 yards down the road. Two lads drinking, one pee'd on the other's beer bottle, both phoned their dads, dads turned up with Samurai swords and set about each other.

Or there was the time one drug gang caught a bloke from another gang by running his car of the road, then attacked him with power tools.

Or there was the time two teenage girls punched a man to steal his carry-out, he hit his head and died.

Typical Glasgow, really 😉

A couple of years ago we had a metal bucket that had had some plants in, stolen from right by the front door! Then not long after that an old ironing board that was ready for the tip got nicked from the side of our house, probably by pikeys.
Last week a car in our street was broken into & some golf clubs were stolen from it. Probably not pikeys.

I think that's it.

I live next door to a prison. There are infrequently murders in there (has been one this year) and such delightful people as Gary Glitter have been neighbours for short periods.

2 people who murdered 3 old people in their beds by smothering them with their pillows. I didn't know the dead but I'd been the patrol leader of the 2 killers on scout camp around 5 years before and shared a tent for a week with them. One of them was always an evil little bastard, the other just stupid. They'll be be out now and although I'm back living in the same area I've no idea where they are now. Funny thing is that I'd always had down the kid who threw a felling axe at another guys head on the same camp as the real nutter but I guess I was wrong.

I live in the middle of nowhere, where the most I'd have expected would've been some 'bitch' running over the lollipop man.....
But, last week, some chavvy bloke stabbed another chavvy bloke to death a few doors down from my front door!!!!
I was gobsmacked.

Speaking of Fred West - I used to live in the village where he buried some of his bodies. I remember going past it every day on the primary school bus, white tents and police in forensic suits. Never did see any actual bodies, though not for lack of trying. We all used to scramble to the other side of the bus and press our faces on the glass to get the best view. Good times.

Probably the murder of 3 squaddies in the Pentland Hills by a colleage for the payroll. £20,000 never recovered, believed buried in the hills.

Monday to Thursday the only excitment is the odd chav car speedingup the street setting my motorbike alarm off.
Friday-Sunday just lots of drunks knocking about, did see 6.police cars and 2 vans for four people. Had a fight in town apperantly. So they were nicked.

A lot burglary happens though on streets nearby. But in the whole it's quite peaceful. (Darwen) full on jobless whoppers though.

Where I grew up, now I'm 3 miles away, we had a guy who I knew murder his girlfriend.

Another young lad who I'd seen grow up got attacked by 2 lads, died and they got done for manslaughter.

( not linking the press reports as I knew these people and it's depressing )

Where I am now, the bank has been done over loads of times and it's like going into a tardis now when you wanna pay some money in as security is so tight. Apart from that, 2 cars nicked in the last couple of months out of our street and various scrotes trying car door handles etc.

Used to let my kids run up the tenement stairs alone to visit their auntie in the top flat. Peter Tobin lived in the close at the time.

I don't live in Paisley now, nor does Peter Tobin (life for serial killing) but aunty hasn't moved...

Did it change their outlook on life?

I used to work with a lady who was early teenage years at the time of the overthrow of Ceausescu in Romania. As unrest spread, soldiers loyal to Ceausescu broke into her family's flat and accused her father of hiding some political dissident or other. They held guns to her and her younger brother's heads and threatened to execute them if they didn't turn him in. There was no dissident (in their flat, that is, there were plenty of them elsewhere) and as a result her father had nothing to give. She thought she would die there and then. Eventually they believed her father and went off.

When I knew her later through work, we worked in supply chain and forecasting, and when some sales guy would turn up in our office and start ranting because we didn't have stock to cover an order and as a result some major multinational's stock of hair gel or toothpaste would fall below optimal levels for the next few days until the next boat arrived at Antwerp........ she never seemed to get that stressed about it.

I lived in Reading, the flats next door had 2 people murdered in one night, about 20m from our bedroom. Lots of questions from Police etc, but we were asleep.

Where we live now, someone stole an apple... it was chaos !

When I first moved in here a guy in the next road argued with his wife, who apparently was a bully. In rage he hit her, killing her with one punch. Then he chopped her up, putting her in the freezerand throwing her head in the Thames.

Only got 5 years for it. The road is still known as Black And Decker Drive by locals and I have a Strava KOM on Black and Decker Drive Chainsaw Sprint segment.

Where I used to live one of the two kebab shops exploded overnight. It wasn't until lunchtime the next day that the police realised some of the defrosting meat scattered across the high street was human.

Where I live now the most crime I've seen is kids bunking off from the local school and their stupid parents dropping them off in the morning parking on the crossing or zig zags to let their spawn decamp.

One half term 2 years ago....a kid died .....it upset my boy as the kid was in his year.
Turns out ...the stand out guy did it, ......( it's still yet to go to court)...... But he had been locked for child abused, then got compo for it and even got on the telly about being wrongly locked up

And to think that #%#^%#*€!! Use to be feet away from me going to school!!

Drugs gang having a car chase through the streets of Edinburgh ended up mowing down one of the people involved and crushing him with their car against the wall outside our flat. Dead.

Couple of days later, same gangs having another car chase, this time shooting at each other through the car windows, one of them shot dead on the road that runs down the side of our flat.

News article for second death

We moved fairly sharpish after that.

The farm in our village - farmer's wife disappeared in 2007 and he went down for it. Came back in 2011 and showed the police where he dumped her. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-15898198

Bloke I sort of know walked into a local pub one morning in his dressing gown and had a few pints.
It was a bit weird and it transpired that he'd just nail gunned his wife to the floor.
He didn't kill her though.

A rhea escaped from a poultry farm. Unable to find a child's face, it pecked a parked car.

We have execution square less than a minute away. This is where Franco's troopers murdered all the men and boys from the village who were in resistant families.
Thankfully logic and reason has persevered and it is now a nice and quiet place again.

Somebody once stole the pansies from the garden of the local library in Oakham once and it made the front cover of the Rutland Times.

Not much happens in Rutland

Mass shooting. Good friend was one of the survivors, shot about 400m from home. We had a short panic as we tried to locate the kids who were out playing at the time. It was a very black day 🙁

No murders that I know of, but I suspect feeding LSD to mental patients would be considered fairly unacceptable nowadays.
