I think there should be a subforum for banned people though to spend their time whilst are removed from the main forum.

Is that not mleh world?

You can't consider yourself a proper member unless you've been baned a few times

Just an observation Dru 8)
Using myself as an example.. banned 3 times in the last year, having never been banned in the previous 11yrs even though nothing much about my posts has really changing over the entire time I've been posting here.

it's a def different place now

been banned lots, quite a few warnings, managed to get banned for3 days an image that was reposted by someone else in the same thread that apparently was fine 2nd time around. A bit of consistency with the Victorian sensibilities would at least make it easy to comply with. guestimating what the mods are going to throw a hissy fit over is like trying to nail spaff to a wall. ๐Ÿ˜•

I got warned for being insulting to myself once, that was a little odd. And for censoring out a swear word with asterisks- "swear filter avoidance" in a thread where other people used the same word in full. You've got to wonder. But hey, I wouldn't mod this place (I do mod other forums, just not ones full of maniacs)

you do not get banned for a first offence usually.

I did. Though to be fair it was for something which gets quite a significant mention in the forum rules - and I did succeed in getting my ban lifted following a discussion with the powers that be (I wasn't even actually trying to get unbanned, just explain myself).

So has anybody else ever succeeded in getting a ban lifted or just me?

And for censoring out a swear word with asterisks- "swear filter avoidance" in a thread where other people used the same word in full.

Yeah - I got a warning today for that, despite going to the effort of starring out all but one letter of the offensive bit of the word, so you'd really have to use your imagination - far worse is routinely let go. They called it swear filter avoidance, I call it self censoring.

Interestingly, one of the words I got removed isn't in the swear filter.

I moderated a Sheff Utd footy forum once - that was mucho fun. Never baned anyone though, even though I had the power.

Yeah, yeah - lunatics, asylum and all that.

like trying to nail spaff to a wall.

<Googles 'spaff'>

Hmmm thought as much, eaugh. Nice mental image, lol if I was an uptight prudish git I could probably report that... But I'm not and have never reported anything, because I have never, once, seen anything worth getting upset about on this site. There is far, far worse in the comments below the average youtube clip than on here, and that doesn't bother me either.
I see erm 'eye opening' comments as a rare opportunity to peek inside minds very different from my own, and as a reminder that there are some very strange people out there. Educational, if you like. What's the point of getting rid of offensive posts anyway? The offensive poster still exists, if not here, then somewhere...
