In old black & white films there was a piano piece played when a woman was tied to the train tracks and the train was coming, but what was it?
Someone must know what it's called?

I got the tune stuck in my head after watching QI but not a clue what it's called and it's doing my head in!

Thanks
Wiksey

Sorry, I've no access to youtube on my works PC and Slow Train To Dawn is struggling on my phone, but the Dickhead Song is kinda catchy ๐Ÿ™‚

What I'm after will be dating back to 1930s or maybe earlier?

Perhaps this:

Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky-Korsakov.

Maybe? No?

This is the one that I associate with scenes of panic/impending doom/the need for urgency in old films.

Ooh, The Devil's Gallop sounds like the one I've had in my head for the last day - maybe I remember a cheap production version.

Wasn't the Devil's Gallop the theme for Dick Barton, Special Agent?

Devil's Gallop sounds right to me too.
In the days of silent films they would have a solo pianist playing a score live in the cinema to match the film.
When the films get shown on TV they generally have a solo pianist, rather than a full orchestra, to recreate the vintage feel.
