can you overtake with a few good bangs on the horn or should one remain patient and wait behind until it turns off into the crem/cem?

You don't overtake out of respect, it's like not taking your hat off. Depends on the procession though. I saw one near Brighton last year and the dual carriageway got closed off by police and I think there were about a 1000 people walking and a horse drawn
