Had ours about 5 years, think it could do with a clean. What's the best way to do this?
We live in a hard water area if that has any affect on solution!
I ran an empty 90C wash with a bit of bleach in mine. Seemed to do the trick.
I tried that but it then stank for the next couple of weeks and made clothes dirty with mould that had been loosened by the hot wash...
We just had ours serviced today and the chap who did it said to run a 90 wash with a scoop of powder once a month or so to keep it in good condition, anything stronger risks damaging seals and stuff. (I'll probably revise that down to once every three months on account of being forgetful and tight-fisted.)
White wine vinegar in the drum 90deg wash as recommended by some cleaning tv programme!
Would mould cause black marks on the clothes? my missus said this has started happening. I've not noticed cause all my clothes are black blue and grey
Wouldn't just doing a hot(95c) wash once in a while (eg some white towels) do the trick? 🙄 flippin eck some of you lot need to get a life 🙄
I might just throw some muc off in and see what happens
hottest wash with a biological powder.
Our washing machine that we acquired when we moved in 9 months ago started to leave clothes really humming and wasn't always running through the spin cycle. Was recommended by chaps at work to search for filter, usually somewhere on panel front of machine. Found ours, totally gummed up by some foul smelling black gunk that I cleaned up. Washed clothes now smell washed. Would recommend checking that filter occasionally!
What's the best way to get rid of buildups of undissolved powder in the waste pipes etc?
I work in the industry of detergents. Service wash is what I would recommend with powder that contains bleach (powders that are for White and bright clothes and it says in ingredients if it contains bleach) and you want to use a biological one as it has enzymes that clean better than a non bio (England is the only country I know of where non bio is a selling point!). Do a couple of empty runs with powder (one scoop or so) if one is not enough. 60 degrees should do the trick but try higher if required. Leave the door open afterward as that helps dry the drum out quicker (you should always do that really).
Oh, and most people dose too much when washing with powder so get a dosing device (from manufacturers website or careline).
And ANY gel or liquid detergent will never contain bleach so if you got a honking set of clothes good old powder is usually your best bet
We got a cleaning liquid from supermarket, suppose it's a bit like calgon. Just put some on a cloth to clean the doors and seal, wash the tray in a sink and then put rest of the liquid in the tray and do a hot wash. I then cleaned the filter afterwards... lovely smell
Dishwasher tablets, 1 in the dispenser 1 in the drum with and old towel etc.
Absolutely does the trick. Before that I used bleach and it doesnt work as well.
Oh and I also read that washing liquids do not wash your clothes as well and make washing machines smell more... we are changing to powder.
Soda crystal in 90C wash
