I’m looking for one for my van and car tyres, anyone tried the Makita dmp180z? All my tools are Makita so I’ve got the batteries and charger already. Also Merlin do a nice looking Bosch one. Any recommendations?
Should say I don’t want a compressor as I’ve not got the room to keep one.
I went for the dmp181z. Very impressed - checking the car tyre pressures is now much less of a chore and I think it may prove useful for tubeless mtb tyres as well.
Thanks mda, shall take a look.
I’ve used the ones that come supplied in the boot of most cars quite successfully, their only problem is they’re noisy. Other than that I’ve got a Bell foot pump that someone had left in a car boot that works fine, it’s quiet, and doesn’t take much longer than an electric one to get a tyre up to pressure.
In the two years or so I’ve had the car, I’ve only had to use the pump a couple of times, when I got a nail in a tyre. In the fifteen years I had my Octavia, I don’t think I needed a tyre pumped up more than half a dozen times, at a guess.
No point in spending lots on something when there’s cheap equivalents that do the job just fine. The one I had in the Octavia cost £9.99 from a filling station - it saved me having to fit the spare on all bar one occasion, after a sidewall split.
