as some of you may know i done some translation/re-writing work for a firm.
had to re-write a whole website. ended up being 204 lines on Word, size 12 font. we didn't agree a price before hand but after having spoken to others in the business of translation it would seem 1€/line is the going rate for non-technical documents.
as it happens this did contain a lot of specialist lingo (firm produces and develops sensors and actuators for liquid solutions).
so i invoiced based on 1€/line (1€ x 204) plus tax (19%). they/she has written back saying she would get back to me....
never had a prob with invoicing before. where do i stand?

wait 'til she gets back to you. She may just be checking how they pay things and/or working out whether to pay just yet based on their cashflow.
€1 a line seems perfectly fine. That bill for a translation, in my mind, having used companies for this kind of thing, is reasonable.
She may want to negotiate, and if you'd like more work from her maybe be prepared to shift a bit.
But talk like adults, in a business like way, and you'll be fine.
Firms I have used in the past for technical documents have charged approx £125 per 1000 words so your rate is very reasonable. One thing useful to get out with initial letter is a set of terms and conditions as it covers this type of problem. Most people take full advantage of the 30 days opportunity to pay so you are prob best waiting to hear from them and chasing as and when 30 days passes.
