For timber rail to post connection? Need 100mm length, but need to be durable for 20years (I want my fence to last).

Stainless are too costly, decking screws tend to stop at 75mm.

Need help!

Screwfix turbo gold or similar will see you right, just remember to pilot the rails or they won't pull up tight.

Screwfix is your friend. Not all decking screws, but about half of them are (i've used Spax floorboard screws with good results, so imagine their decking screws are good too)

Any hardened zinc plated screw will do. All the other stuff, decking Spax etc are just window dressing and unnecessary for your application.

No screws on my fence, and still there after 15 years, with zero maintenance. (I don't think the screws are the weak link in most fences, all the fences I've had that have blown down failed because the post rotted.)

If done correctly an arris rail into post does not need any sort of metal fixing - neither screws nor nails.
Wooden dowels however would be appropriate.

Don't forget to use your adze 😉

If you want things to last 20+ years why scrimp, just do the job properly first time?
