Does she have an iPhone? If so, the tom-tom software is very good.

Big fan of Garmin personally.
Tom Tom are good too. Would avoid other brands.

Tom Toms are great until they break down. Which they will. Then you will have to deal with Tom Tom customer service, who are truly awful.
