I would advise NOT getting a floyd rose. Unless you are really good at setting up/maintaining guitars then it will be constantly out of tune.

Agree with grumm. You are also then limited to gauge 10 or 9 strings, and it takes about an hour to change them. But if you really want one, ibanez are good (they stay in tune really well ONCE you've set it up right). Get one with clamps at the nut.

Ibanez seems to give you a lot of bang for your buck. I've got a couple of pupils using the S470(which is well within your budget.)and they are nice. Prefer the look/feel of the RG series though personally.
If you can stretch to £780 ish money you can pick up a Japanese made Prestige model which are lovely instruments. I've got a Jap made PG301 which is a great playing/sounding guitar which has consigned my considerably more expensive PRS to my bedroom cupboard.
Best advise is to go to a shop and try some if this is possible.
Good luck

thanks for replying everyone.i was thinking about an rg 350 ex guitar, but have read on forums(musicradar e.t.c)that the floyd rose is quite low quality, wears out very quickly.it's quite confusing to know how much to save up,to get a decent guitar(with good quality hardware)especially with the current exchange rate.i do like the prestige range, but definitely not cheap.
