Ok, probably been done to death, but searches only find posts from 6-8 months ago, things move along....

Up to £20 a month (ideally less) on Contract, ideally 24 months, but might consider longer. At least 1GB data, ideally 2GB.

Android or iPhone I don't really mind.

Currently have Nokia Mobile with Win 10 which has been great, but battery bloating and dying and less and less aps are being supported but only pay £7.50 for 1GB.

Seen iPhone SE for 17.50, or iPhone 6 for 18.99 with 2GB

Samsung J3 17 for £13.50 with 1GB. I use the 16 version for work and its ok.

Just wondering whats out there and good VFM.

Best bet is to have a look at HotUKDeals. A whole army of people searching out the best deals. If you aren't bothered by Apple Vs Android then you'll get better vfm with android. Have a look at the new Nokias. A number of them are on the Android one program so have guaranteed and timely updates/support. Motorola used to be good for that but not so much now.

I like the look of the new Nokia Android phones, they’re supposedly very Nokiaish for smart phones, more robust and better batteries than the average. The cheapest one is only £100 so contracts should be cheap.

Motorola for sure.  I can't fault my G5S Plus, and the new G6S is better all round and not much more money.

Leftfield: sack it off.

It's so nice going out not having to relate to some little plastic device. 🙂

Get a decent metal one then, makes a difference 🙂

Actually, in all seriousness... My one plus 3 feels hugely more solid and nicer in the hand than my new work-issue galaxy s7.

Someone mentioned buying outright and getting a sim only deal with the likes of giff gaff or one of the vast array of 3rd party providers now. Plus net looked very cheap the other day if you're already one of their customers. I'd seriously look at this if you can afford the up front couple of hundred for a phone.

You can't go too far wrong with phone hardware these days, a lot comes down to personal preference as to how you like a device to feel or software to look. I find apple devices overly frustrating to use for example. Some people find them intuitive.  Some people like a phone the size of an iPhone see, other prefer 5.5 or 6". Fwiw I'm a fan of larger devices - they tend to be a little thinner which fits my hand better (and I don't have particularly big hands).

Have a look at Blackview phones on android.. Rugged and waterproof, great battery life amongst other things and just over £200. Then get a sim only deal.
