Help me out here people. It's just thought at the moment but I'm toying with the idea of getting a new (2nd hand) car.
I really want to get a Vauxhall Monaro VXR - only problem is that I have 3 kids and it only has 2 seats in the back. I'm gutted!
I want something with a great lump of a V8 in it. Must be petrol, supercharged or turbocharged preferred.
MPG not an issue as I work abroad and it won't get used much. Must have 5 seats. Must be a great lump of a beast. Thought about an RS6 but I already own a big engined A6, fancy something different...
What is worth a look at - budget 9k...

Ooh 9k might be hard - especially for a Monaro VXR. Unless you missed a "1" from that figure?!
I'd look at the AMG Mercs - E55, C43, etc.
E39 M5.
One of the best cars I have ever driven. Unlike the E60, which was probably the most disappointing.
If you really must have forced induction, an E55 might do the job. E55 estate the very best family holdall I've tried. Steering's not fantastic, but better than a Monaro by a factor of lots.
Jag XJR? 4.2litre V8, supercharged, 0-60 in 5s, decent boot, 5 seats.
MLC - not sure if you've ever tried to get 3 people in the back of a Jaguar? They're kind of a reverse Tardis.
If he's going to drive it like a Monaro, it's best they don't have room to rattle!
You'd get a good E500 for that money. Anything with an AMG badge on it ups the price and service costs massively, but I'd imagine a E55 to be a complete laugh.
How about a 300C SRT V8? Similar engine to the Monaro.

I'm in Scotland - they are a little cheaper here. 9-10k will get one. Still, the problem is that they have only 4 seats, I'm so dissapointed...
The big Merc estates seem good value for money...

Golf or Skyline? Both come in R32 form!

Not mine mate, just remember seeing the ad and it seemed to tick all your boxes 🙂
I reckon it'd be good for 190ish without limiter though, and enough torque to start the world turning in the opposite direction!

Niall what you should be asking is- are things so ****ed now Dave and his mates are in control that something as well engineered as RoadieSeans motor is still not sold - can't see you getting anything better than that for under 12 grand
