Looking at planning some routes for a few bivvy trips and wondered what your all using these days? I did use the OS Maps on the PC a few years ago but I'm guessing things have advanced some what.

Is there also a way of adjusting previous GPX files to create new routes?

I'm wanting to create some routes based on the highland trail route. As its essentially 3 big loops and a out and back start so in theory it should be easy enough to do but how so?

I use memory map, but thats just because I've got it.

bikehike lets you create and view gpx files online for free. OS usage is limited to a daily quota, globally. You can edit a route whilst creating it, not sure if you can edit an uploaded gpx.

There are loads of software and websites that can do this sort of stuff.

I have used GPSies to do this sort of stuff. I have also used this open source program GPX editor.

A GPX file can be opened with a text editor and you can change things directly if you know the co-ordinates of the new route. Be a bit tedious for a lot of changes.
