[Closed] What is it with some dog owners?

There are a spectrum of people. Most are nice, a few are great, a few are a pain.

Go with the flow of nice/great people. Avoid/accept that some will never learn. Do what you can to educate them (with whatever energy/skill you have)

Don't let them wastte your time worrying about them.

I use 'Staffy' as it most certainly was of the breed but what a specimen.....[s]scary[/s] majestic!

As you quite correctly have noted, it's the owner not the dog.
I imagine said lad will watch TV with said TV at full volume.
Said lad will drive around town in his dressed up Nova at full pelt, etc
Staffs are lovely dogs that just want to make their owners happy and to this end are very easy to train.

I hate stupid dog owners. Yesterday i had my lurcher and 18 month old son in pram out for a walk. I'd had to put my dog onthe lead as sh had knicked an old collies ball and would have just kept bugging the owner to throw it. Walking along the old collie is up ahead when it suddenly gets mobbed by three dogs a staffy, weimeraner and bitza. The three dogs see mine and start runing towards her, owner walking alog totally unconcerned not even calling them. My dog is scared of most things and three large dogs running towards her is one of thise things. I loose her off the lead and she pegs it with her tail between her legs yelping eventually she stops and faces them with a few air snaps. Still the owner does nothing. Now sometimes she gets spooked by dogs but at least the owners try to call them off even if doesnt work this **** did nothing, then has the nerve to say alright mate to me...... It went downhill from there and he was lucky not to ep in the Thames. ....... Anyway feel better for sharing.... Carry on!

A tool owns a dog i would deal with it by sterilising him and sending him to an island to death fight with others of his ilk.

I nearly had an argument with a moronic old twunt yesterday as my dogs (both on leads) went to say hello to her dog, a scruffy cross greyhound type thing which is frequently wandering about on its own and often joins mine for part of the walk. She had a large stick which she threatened my dogs with and after trying to explain that they are friendly and know her dog, she continued waving the stick and pulling her dog, who by this time was obviously getting quite stressed. In the end I just gave up and walked away telling my dogs in a loud voice that the dogs owner was a ....king idiot.

Ignorant morons like this (some happen to be dog owners) are just not worth getting stressed about!

The most important thing with dogs is to socialise early, most of the behaviour towards other dogs is due to not being able from an early age to get on with others. There will be growling/snarling and maybe the odd nip but then they sort things out learn where they are and get on with it. Imagine spending your whole life never getting within 6ft of another person or communicating with them, every time you try you get dragged away.

My GF's work (vet) were doing puppy pre school last week a series of evenings that socialise the pups and get them used to being in the vets (less trouble when you need to get them there) great ideas.

Thats life I'm afraid, in every bunch or roses there may be a prick or two

I'm sick of lazy local dog owners leaving massive turds all over the paths and village greens. There are so many turds on the greens that the kids play russian dog egg roulette every time they play on them.

We live in a village surrounded by public footpaths across the fields but instead local owners let their dogs crap all over the village. There is also a playing field with a couple of football pitches which dogs are banned from - up to £500 fine, yet people still bring their dogs there to exercise them and poo on the pitches. Utter selfishness.

I've already caught one owner not picking up and reported them to the council - they got a £50 fixed penalty ticket. Just wish I could catch the rest of them so I could deliver the poo back through their letter boxes.

I saw a dog on my ride yesterday, he was carrying a stick about 2 metres long, looking really proud of himself.

I laughed and had a nice chat with the owner.

I was in the playground with my youngest son the other day, it's a playground with a fence around it, I noticed a family with a pair of staffy type dog's running free, to my disgust they let them into the playground full of children, this made my son very nervous, he likes dogs but is unsure and being autistic he reacts more than most. So without hesitation I went over to meathead dog owner and asked him to take his dogs out and keep them under control on a lead, as they may know their dog's but everyone else doesn't, with a few comments from him and grunts he obliges. Then loads of parents came over to me thanking me say well done they were all bricking it. Meathead was till hanging around though and when I left he came over to me and apologize and understood and he was sorry for reacting the way he did.

Could of easily gone the other way though.

Mrs anagallis took dog to the park last week and apparently some idiots were exercising their petbull by having it hang from the swings in the kids play area. The week before she was walking dog with little fella in pram a dog (again a petbull) ran out of a house at our lurcher and knocked the pram over with Frank still strapped in. She is still claiming to not remember what number it is as she saw me removing my bombers from the bike.

Staffies are magnificent with people...in fact they call them the nanny dog or something like that don't they?

Other dogs though...

I have to say i dont like staffies, ugly things that often dont get on with other dogs but they are indeed generally great with people. I use the term petbull to represent the staffie crosses that are so prevalent round here.

Far to many people assume a dog is just a dog. They then buy iy without realising they have to train it and educate themselves about its needs etc.

A dog will always be a dog, mine still have their moments but generally they are ok. Many staffies are great with people but I do see them and some mastiffs with chavs. You can usually spot it as they are constantly dragging the dog back as they have zero control over it.

Credit to flippinheckler's meathead friend for 1) realising he was wrong and 2) being man enough to acknowledge it and apologise.

I foresee an auspicious day out at the Pride of Britain awards for flippinheckler.
