It happens to people who have the fancy editor enabled. You can turn it off in your profile settings.

Nope, happens even with the Fancy Editor disabled. It’s user error I am told.

I suspect, but don't know for certain, that it's a side effect of using the 'Visual' view in the non-fancy editor.

And really annoyingly it doesn't maintain the paragraph layout but places it on a single line with the br tag

Something like:

“You shouldn’t be using the Fancy Editor , don’t you even know that? Blimey what an idiot.” *point and laugh

and

“You shouldn’t be using the Visual editor, don’t you even know that? Blimey what an idiot.” *point and laugh

or

“You shouldn’t be using that *insert name of massively popular browser/device, don’t you even know that? Blimey what an idiot.” *point and laugh

I also assumed I was just to dumb to be getting some sort of tech joke. In fact I'm still worried that this whole thread is just a ploy to expose us.

This forum does seem cruel in its various ways to torment us. Currently after waiting half an hour for the overview page to load and clicking a thread, I now have the advert just bigger than the page so there only a fraction of the cross visible to click to close it 🤣
