My wife works for a lady who has a shop. Although she is a nice lady, do not think she really knows what she's doing. I think she is a sole trader. From what I can tell, she needs to:
- Pay employer's NI on my wife's salary (there's no lower threshold for this is there?)
- Have employer's liability insurance
- Have public liability insurance for the shop
- Product liability insurance for the stuff she makes
- Tell HMRC she is a sole trader
.. anything else?
I think she is a sole trader
Is it a shoe shop ?
There's a lower limit as per hmrc website c£156pw below which both pay zero percent class 1 nic.
Presumably there's some potential H&S issues toe boot if she is a shoe shop though sheel possibly not last long enough to bovver.
Maybe (There is)
