Other than filthy, what do you call this wee metal gutter under my front door?

And what, other than creating a huge draft, is it for?

It looks like an aluminium threshold and weather board/bar (to deflect the rain). And if you are getting a draught through it, replace it with a new one which has effective (high) rubber seals. If the gap is too big to close, plant a bit on the bottom of the door.

Looks like a threshold...
Meant to even out differing floor levels or act as a transfer between rooms. Try fitting a draught strip under the front door or do what we do and crank up the heating.

I love STW!
I'll look into a draught strip or something now I know what it is 😉

I was looking at the Stormguard website as threshold sills for inward opening external doors. But nowhere have I seen any thresholds like this that is a gutter type thing. Was this finished as it should have been or is it missing half of its bits?

There is a weather Bar on the outside of the door but I can't see any old or remnants of any seals on the underside of the door.

I need to get this plugged ASAP before the proper cold weather comes in!

Is it a case of pulling this out and replacing it with something that doesnt have a gutter??
