Very bright moon tonight, totally clear skies. Best I can do with the equipment I have:

AArrggghhhh...

Planned all the way home to head into the hills & get some great landscape shots with new fancy camera too; full moon, wispy cloud, there were some night riders up around white hill too.

Then SHE starts; "it's my birthday, what about my birthday" etc. etc.

😈

Maybe this rain'll clear up & we'll get another crack at it tonight! (yeah, right!)

Another shot from a few months ago, with some hefty cropping:

The lens is a Sigma 70-300, cost me £70 off ebay. Not a great lens, but can get some decent shots with it. The stock lens is 18-70 so would not get that kind of detail!

Kit - I've had some cracking shots with the 70-300, but it tends to front-focus hugely.

Can't say I'm at a standard where I would honestly notice. What I have found is that the autofocus is very sloooooow to the point where I don't bother with it. I believe there are two versions of the lens though, and I bought the cheaper one.

It does take good photos though:

Got up the hill last night to attempt 1st night landscape pics; no skill (shutter speeds, aperture settings etc.) involved, just camera settings. Not much results to speak of but these were the 'better' ones, best viewed with the lights off... First, Spotted some night-riders on the North side of Allermuir -

My dad would have called it a bomber's moon
