Anniversary fast approaching (on a Sun) - got M, T & W booked off too.
We're going away for 3 poss 4 nights but not sure where....in need of inspiration!

We love York for all it's great pubs and eateries and plenty to do without driving anywhere.
Anywhere similar we could go to, or any leftside suggestions?
Heard Bristol in good - Chester been recommended too.
Fire away - keep it clean though as mrs rascal might tune in 😉

Edinburgh?

Orkney islands?

Dublin?

Paris?

Florence or Rome?

Whichever you do choose, get a decent hotel and Queen bed.

Then do something (romantic/different/effort/spontaneous) she wouldn't expect. - willy let the others add that answer lol.

If you like York then Edinburgh, Chester or Bath would be options.

We have done the Lakes a lot though I'd happily go again.
Edinburgh was our honeymoon destination which was awesome - maybe go back in 3 years (10th Ann).
Bath is a good shout.
Hmmm....cheap flight to Florence sounds good.

Cheers all - keep 'em coming 🙂

We keep returning to Sunderland year after year.
Alternatively, consider Lisbon?

Have a look on TravelZoo, they often have deals on two/three night breaks in nice hotels in nice places.

If were to go to Chester for 3 or 4 days then it's worth noting that Portmeirion is an easy day trip from there, if you've not been before.

I actually stayed in the Haven Hotel in Bilston.

We walked in about 2pm, female proprietor was sat in negligee smoking a fag whilst eating a fry up.

We just booked a cottage in N Devon for four nights, between Exmoor and Ilfracombe. The whole area is gorgeous for walking, beaches, riding, coastal walks, pubs. You might get a cheap last min if you check!

Bath +1
Brighton
St Ives (not in the school hols)
Bristol (if you like big cities, it fits the brief, but the center is not compact like york/bath/chester)

Girl Friend's birthday treat best hotel I've ever stayed at Whitby lots of pubs and eaty places had a cracking time, lots to see in the area.

Just don't stop to answer a phone call on the A169 near RAF Fylingdales, armed police knocking on my car window within 10 mins 😳

They were very nice and just checking I hadn't broken down 🙂

Isle of scilly. The most relaxing place Ive ever been just leave the car behind and slow right down and enjoy some amazing beaches. Can be a bit of a pain to get to though

Avoid chester its crap, run down ,full of expensive cafes and restraunts, a new theatre thats half used, lots of empty shops etc.

Go to liverpool good restraunts, pubs and bars, fantastic buildings, good nightlife, lots of free museums, the mersey ferries, trip up the anglican cathederal tower and st johns beacon, the waterfront and lots more, and some 4 piece beat combo band called the Beatles, have their own visitor centre and tour.

Hmmm....cheap flight to Florence sounds good.

Florence is nice, but massively touristy, IMO.... rather fly to Pisa/Lucca and jump on a train to Cinque Terre. nice apartment for <80€/night. lots of pretty restaurants and walks along the coast.

Would suggest Bristol rather than Bath (you can always pop over to Bath on the train). Loads to do and see, and there's been a surge in great pubs and restaurants in the centre. Or how about Glasgow?

Seems the brief has changed a bit.
Camping pods is what we're thinking now...we've stayed in some in the Lakes and in Northumberland.
Some have their own mini kitchens in so prob one of those...hot tub sounds great too!
Thinking more south than Lakes/Dales/north. Maybe Cotswolds area...somewhere we haven't been but doesn't involve driving a million miles to get to for just 3-4 days - we're East Mids. Near a nice town with pub options would be good too...
