This is often in the garden:

[img] [/img]

- that's a 30cm ruler for scale ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

We had been told that there was more than a splash of Maine Coon in his gene pool, but have recently been told by the woman at the cattery, that he didn't have a 2 layer coat, or the pointed face that would signify this.

Do we have to accept that he is simply some sort of moggie/shire horse hybrid, or do you have some other idea of what he might be ?

It's a dwarf in a cat costume, obviously.

Could be the Social, Drug Squad or a PI.
Tell it you're taking it to the vets for 'a little operation'.
If it runs away on it's back legs, screaming, you'll know the truth.

It appears to be a Five legged cat IIRC.

Turkish Van X something else is a good guess

Our wee beastie - his mother was the smallest little Persian and daddy unknown ( suspect it could have been a Turkish Van )

I had one that size - turned out that it was just a standard sized cat with a lot of fluff, therefore making it look much larger.

For a definitive answer, simply take the cat and dunk in the bath for a while. It should shrink a fair bit when wet. You may need protective leather gauntlets and a full face helmet for this task.

Having said that, it is a flippin' long cat.

That's not a real cat either - it's completely ignoring that mouse under it's nose.

Sputnik - your cat, especially the fur, is the closest thing that I have seen to our dear little Basil, so something like a Persian/Turkish van type cross thingie it may well be.

Turkish Vans are apparently very rare and expensive. But there are quite a few cats that look just like them it seems.

My old one whom I miss, and now belongs to flippinheckler:

The smaller of my Maine Coons when he was a year old, I just measured the rug at 70cm for reference.

And with big fat head, not all of them have a pointy face....

If the domestic cat was bigger, they would eat us.

They're just cats aren't they? You can claim they're breeds but ultimately, they all look the same.

Here's our big boy. The words "Norwegian Forest Cat" have been used to describe him but I don't know for sure.
