My wifes trying to set up a website that incorperates some kinda social network/forum malarky, having no website building knowledge of the shelf seems the way to go buts it's proving to be minefield thousands on offer but which way to go? shes bought a domain name and wants to use that and have the ability to upload a lot of pics live chat etc any ideas from the good people of the forum would be great
had a look at the socialgo site (banner ad on singletrack) looks ok but would she still be able to use her own domain name and how much building is involved in the premium subscription???

It will also need hosting and with lots of pics you may need quite a lot of space. Sounds to me like you would be better off paying a professional to help.

I use these http://www.justhost.com/ unlimited space and bandwidth, easy control panel to setup a PHPbb forum and options to setup galleries from the same control panel. It can also have Wordpress which allows a nice simple looking site.

I would think so Alcopop Wordpress should allow it, also on there http://www.joomla.org/ to help setup a website.
