This job advert will silence the continual moaning about speed/up-time/shut down etc.

Is rather funny, they are looking for someone to take it to the next level. I think the next level == reliable.

A web designer won't do anything about the stability issues, it'll just crash in a much prettier fashion.

I would put Linux/Apache/MySQL under "Essential" !!

It's not the *design* of STW which people moan about, it's the inability of the server admin to keep it online.

Strikes me that a 'developer' got roped into looking after the server too.... all too common, unfortunately.

I'd do it if it wasn't all the way up there, didn't require skills I that don't have and didn't involve cleaning the coffee machine.

From the threads on here, I'd assume that any one of the posters could do the job with their eyes tied and their arms closed.

But judging by the comments and the assumptions I'd not employ any of them

Judging by the current skill level looking after the servers, I wouldn't want to work for them ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hint: recruit a website designer/developer, but outsource your web hosting services (server admin) to someone who knows what they are doing. Seriously. Rackspace come recommended, with their 'fanatical' support. ๐Ÿ™‚

I find it quite disturbing that I agree with SFB!

I may have to go and have a lie down...
