The start of an occasional series...
It's at this time of the year I succumb to my craving for a packet of Cheese Moments, Satan's work. This year the price had risen to 55p, the packet size had shrunk to 28g, and upon eating what had been previously full of cheese were but tiny morsels!
Smiths, we **** hate you!
Smiths square crisps (cheese and breath -natch),67p.
Walker snaps (tomato- obs),39p.
No contest.
Twiglets have been dumbed down too...used to be much more Marmitey.
Them's the barstewards who stopped making Tudor Crisps.

I think I may have spotted a multipack of those in Poundland. I didn't buy them as the pack seemed 'lighter than air', such is the way in Poundland...

The big crisp issue is Walker's wanton disregard for the unwritten crisp colour code. I know its been years, but Cheese & Onion are green, Salt & Vinegar are blue.
Golden Wonder are the kings, all but extinct in London.

Salt and Vinegar Discos have gone downhill recently, no way near salty and tangy enough now
I revisited a Chicken and Mushroom Pot Noodle recently and this was quite a disappointment as well, my student staple diet ruined! Totally lacking in Salt and MSG goodness! 😀

No, it's the H&S nannies at work. Beef flavour Monster Munch isn't the coated-in-industrial-quantities-of-MSG glory that it was back in 1978...

It's more likely because of the food police enforcing taste removal (via salt reduction usually) on anything which doesn't confrom to their narrow minded view of a balanced diet.
I work in the food industry and it's constant battle to meet the latest FSA/Dept of Health targets without totally compromising the taste of your product
Smiths? Do they still make crisps? Do they have the little blue bag of salt in them still? Is this an oop North thing again, it's all Gary Linneker down here, except, Satan has opened a superstore, it's called Asda when it opened folk threw themselves off it's roof (true and they are now regularly asked if they have new jumpers in stock), but what devastating temptations they have wrought upon us simple minded weak willed morons with which to watch Eastenders ..

Worse than this, there are only 6 crisps on average in the ridiculously small bag, unless you break them up a bit and get twelve smaller ones, it's such a desperate situation only two bags will suffice at a time of course..

Smiths Salt n' shake WERE the best ever, eaten without salt of course.

Anyone remember Fish N Chips? The SnV biscuity snacks. So strong they made your eyes water as a child. Mmm lovely!
Fish N Chips? They also made Burger n Chips, and Chicken n Chips.

i get very annoyed a walkers multipack bags.
they have nothing like the same flavour as the single packs. They are clearly saving money by just flavouring them less. to the point where i am thinking of buying six single bags next time i go to sainsburys

Haven't seen them since my Yorkshire childhood, same as those stripey minty Opal Fruits (Pacers?)
Smiths got bought by PepsiCo who own Walkers years ago. They then stopped making plain crisps under the Smiths name (apart from Salt and Shake) and only used the Smiths brand for stuff like Frazzles etc.
How to beat your competitors? Buy them and shut them down. PepsiCo did the same with Tudor Crisps.
