Trying to get some funding for a little scheme I am planning. There are lots of different sources for lots of little bits of money but most of them will only deal with clubs, not individuals.
That is fine, I can form a club.
What is a club?
What do I have to do to be one?
What is it going to cost me?
IIRC we had to declare Hit the North as a club to join British Cycling and get their event insurance. I think it cost about £20 per annum. HtN is therefore a club... with 2 members.
It was that big a deal that I've forgotten about it. 😀
I should be able to tell you, after all I only got our club formed in June. And already we have 27 paid up members and many more testing? us out. We're BC abd CTT. We have club kit, we've had open days and a reliability trial in November. The websites up and running and we commuinicate through links to FB and Twitter. We have Sky Ride coaches. We are just sorting out weekly open TTs, We've been asked to hold a road race or cross race. We have members racing road, cross and TT. We are in the middle of aquiring two Watt Bikes....it goes on and on. www.lbrcc.co.uk
IIRC there is very little actual cost. I think £15 membership easilly covered the affiliations and hence insurance etc.
I am soon to be a club then. It is a very niche club with one member.
Can I join? What do I get?
You need a constitution that sets out your objects and purpose and the rules by which you operate. Then you need members and some form of AGM to form a committee. Then you can persuade someone to give you some cash.

Cycle Helpers Operational Activity Squad (CHAOS)
Objectives and Purpose - Develop and maintain Free To Use cycling facilities across the planet.
Constitution - All members will give their time freely. All members must work on at least one Operational Activity each year. No member is obliged to work on projects they object to. Any operational activity may be suggested however the final decision is made solely by the club president.
AGM - As the founder member and life time Club President I here by call this online meeting to order.
Are there any questions? Silence is acceptance so I will continue.
Mission for the next year:
1) Get some members so we get some money
2) Affiliate with either British Cycling or the CTC using the membership money so we get insurance and can approach other organisation for money and stuff
3) Get the cycle skills centre in Southampton Sports Centre up and running
4) Ride around a bit and have fun
Any Other business?
Okay, I hereby close the first AGM of CHAOS.
