Just nik waxed my Doc Martens and the water beads on the leather a treat. Shame the water pisses in where the sole meets the leather.
I need some boots for walking on the beach and crossing the rivers in the sand when the tide is out. Needs to have a good grippy sole for walking on wet rocks . My friend's proper walking boots were treacherous in comparison to my D.Ms.
I would prefer leather as most man made boots are unnecessarily lined with about a cm of foam that makes my feet over heat.
Can combat boots be made paddle proof?
Find a reputable Army surplus dealer near your house, then buy some HAIX High Liability Cold Weather combat boots. They are about £45 a pair. Standard MOD issue, broken in by some failed squaddie, best boots for the price ever.

I have 4 pairs of Haix. Awesome boots, paid max £45 for new unissued from eBay. Use the proper Haix cream or Nikwax leather wax - don't use normal shoe polish.
There’s always Meindle Solden boots, but they’re more a winter boot - they have a removable felt inner boot.

I bought some waterproof Hoggs rigger boots for work this winter and now wondering why it took me so long to get some. Soles are a little slippy to begin with but that seems to wear off.
Have gone with these in grey. I live in their canvas boots which I know are comfy with a good grip. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Palladium-Pampa-Sport-Mens-Shoes-Womens-Waterproof-Walking-High-Top-Ankle-Boots/321900102581?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=512949011577&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
