I thought it was. Had it been an aquis I may have made you an offer..... thankfully its not so I can continue the slow saving to pay the fund off for the zenith! That's going to take a while.
Yeah, I'm happy to keep the Oris. It could serve for places I wouldn't dare wear a really pricey piece. And I just like it, it is probably the sort of watch someone with my income should be satisfied with. Whoops!

Not impossible but it needs to be prefect,

I agree and I think the prices he’s been seeing and based it on are from over enthusiastic owners trying to sell.
speaking of which, I fancy getting into the White SMP club at some point and I’m not that familiar with Omega nuances. Is there any difference in movement or whatever from a 20/21/22 model to the very handsome new one Kryton (and others) are now sporting? I’m only asking as WatchFinder have a “sale” on and there’s three with the same model number at different price points that don’t tally with age. The ‘21 plate for £3,630 has caught my eye.
Let's have a real VFM post:
My new Baltany 39mm retro military auto.

100m WR, sapphire AR glass, screw-down crown and Seiko auto movement.
I changed the OEM strap to a Hirsch Kent as I like them. And it came on tan which I hate.
Watch was just £150 with a voucher code.
Now that is VFM.
I can't imagine it would heat up gaidong's gentleman's area.

Just scrolling by........gaidong, if you have a feel for a more realistic valuation of your Oris pm me with a few pictures of the rear and strap clasp,is it automatic 752 caliber? regards.
@Derek, I am caressing my computer screen right now....
@blazin_saddles that watch has the same reference as my my watch, as checked via my Omega account. Its second hand of course.
Thanks Kryton. Yes, used examples. I’ve actually seen a slightly cheaper one since asking the question as well, but it’s on a bracelet but I fancy the rubber strap instead. Wasn’t planning on buying anything though so trying to ignore for now. I have just sold a bike however…
Special occasion so the Planet Ocean gets a run out. Really should wear it more often.
The Baltany is lovely!
I love the PO nobby. I would, that exact watch was my first luxury watch and still my favourite.
Blazin, price difference will be condition. Myself, as I wear my watches, hairline and swirls don't bother me at all. If the cheapest one on bracelet looks ok get it, the bracelet is worth considerably more than even the oem rubber so just sell it.... although I'd say there are plenty of high quality rubber straps to fit that are far less than the oem. I'll also say again....£20 ish for a snide omega deployant from etsy and a similar amount for a black sailcloth with white stitching looks very good on the watch.
Thanks a fair point Neil, food for thought.
@jamesco, sorry, I missed your message. At the moment my Oris isn't for sale. I have to shift the Milgauss and the VC Patrimony to make up the bulk of the funds I need for the Blancpain. Plus the Pelagos, once I have seen my AD about the missing card! If I can possibly do so, I'll keep the Oris. If you look online you can find them new for about €1500, well worth it IMO.
Talking of online selling... I'm not sure how Chrono24 is looking in the UK but in France we now have to give Chrono24 our tax number (numéro fiscal), so we automatically get billed for 6.5% by the state, in addition to the 6.5% seller's fee! And it's not even on the profit, the whole price gets taxed, grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
But as you asked, and I have the photos...

My friend Tom of Clemence Watches (Edinburgh based microbrand) is just about to release his second model this month - The Munro.

No worries @gaidong, I saw the picture that you originally put up and I was smitten-looking for a good day/work watch. Thanks for the other photos they give me a good idea of the strap and fixing, do you think it would extend enough to be secure on my 8" (sorry 20cm) wrist? Off to search the net now, thanks.

The SMP 300m Omega was updated in 2018 with the 8800 movement- the "Co-Axial Master Chronometer" Since then they all have the laser-cut wave dial. Being Omega they do a range of different colourways, including the much-vaunted and admired white dial version. Search carefully through the various online and marketplace style sellers you'll find loads for sale. I paid 3800 for a near-mint October '22 one in blue through eBay's authentication process. You should be able to find one on a rubber strap for between 3000 and 3500 depending on age. They need servicing between 5 and 8 years from new, and that'll be around the £450-500 mark via Omega ADs so factor that in if you're looking at buying one of the earlier ones.
Edit: There are plenty of clowns who have seen the price rise from last year to this and think they're going to get their money back, so are advertising theirs at 4.5K . I walked into a jeweller in August and enquired about the price of a brand new one (RRP £5500 on bracelet) and without even prompting was told they'd discount it to £4750.
and without even prompting was told they’d discount it to £4750.
+1 mine mine was £4400, but I was told this was very much the floor, hence they threw in an almost free Citizen Promaster for my son to close the deal.
I hunted for a deal new via a grey dealer and paid £3600 on the bracelet, that was a20% discount.
Liking the Clement Ridgeline face, that's pretty unique. I'm sure there will be plenty that disagree, but it's a bold move. Nice one.
Meh, you'll just have to have a link, can't work out how to link to photo's as a full member, only upload from my own PC.
@jamesco, an 8" wrist would be perfect for this watch. Mine is 7.25" and it's ok but on the limit. It would be ideally balances for yours.
Even if the OEM strap wasn't long enough (mine has over an inch spare), the clasp mechanism, which I love, can be put on any 22/20 mm (taper) replacement of similar thickness (1.5mm?). I have worn my hiking, snorkelling the lot, and I think it looks great.
Thanks for your help, as I say I was smitten by your first picture and the clasp just cemented the whole thing , a few deals about as you say and also an 'unworn' one on Chrono24 although a couple of years old . Dunno if anything has changed much in the last couple of years. Also found a lovely bronze 'date pointer' 80th anniversary Oris in a shop online .... must stop NOW!

The Oris deployant is a wonderful thing; I like their strap too, and like you I've used my Oris all round day to day. I've found with my puny (170mm or so) wrist that it wears smaller than you'd think from its size, too.
Watch out for the clasp, there has been a change there. The previous version required the strap to be doubled back, which will obviously cause faster wear. Also, the previous version was a 45mm, mine is a 44mm - model 7760 4164-07 3 22 02lc 01 752.
So those negotiating a discount on new Omega’s, what’s the best tack? Just to walk in, get friendly then hit them with a request for 20% discount, or is there an element of ‘fluffing’ required? I can’t generally be arsed with haggling, my norm is pay the price advertised or ask for the price you want to pay, 1 shot deal, yes or no. Then either buy it or walk.
You'll probably 7% or maybe 10% if you ask. If you ask in enough places you'll get more, but it's not common to get more currently.
Decide your payment method, walk in, after a polite hello ask the best price for the watch you want when paying by such and such. Then thank them. Simple.
I’ve bought three new Seamasters at Ernest Jones. They have the RRP and I simply asked the first time if there was any discretion in the price. My Aqua Terra should have been £3800 and I paid £3200 in 2016.
A couple of years later my lad wanted one for his 21st. I simply said”you did me a great deal last time, what is the cash price? “ so got it for 380o instead of something like £4500.
Third time lucky and the same question netted a Planet Ocean RRP £5560 for £4800 in 2021.
A couple of months ago I was putting my old Constellation in for a service at an independent AD and he offered the £750 discount without even being promoted.
Pretty much what I thought. 5-10% isn’t going to swing it at current rrp. I’ll be paying by cash money, no finance etc. Where’s the lowest hanging fruit usually? I thought the like of major chains have the least to lose and margins to hit so more likely to do a deal, boutiques and small AD’s less so? Is there an equivalent of Carwow for eg. where you can put in what you’re after and let the sellers come to you with their best offers?

you might want to do the usual due diligence but thought you might want to look at this one.

Now that I like. Nice time machine dude. 🤘
Thekingisdead 👍
KingIsDead, that’s exactly my dad’s best watch! My brother and I are constantly winding each other up about who’s going to get it!! tbh I think my daughter will put play the pair of us!
It’s a lovely thing.
Got a new in box unworn 2022 model for £3750 on a bracelet
Sounds like a great deal. Can’t wait to see the pics!
Definitely! Excited for you
So, there’s been a development. Whilst looking at the photos of my recent purchase I noticed a discrepancy between the warranty card and the info provided. Turns out it wasn’t a ‘22 model, it was a ‘20! Now, I’ve bought this to wear not keep as a safe queen, so nearly 3 years less warranty/service interval is worth more than the fact it’s BNIB to me. I’ve decided to cancel that sale and move with another one I was considering instead at the same time, this one is on a rubber strap (which I preferred anyway) is a Nov ‘22 and with negotiation has cost £3,370. So on balance I think all has worked out ok.
