As always, the easiest way to protect yourself from phishing scams is to not click on unknown links and not open emails from unknown senders.

The article could be reduced to this.

Not really seeing how this is 'new' (or for that matter, an April Fool either).

Fake login pages have been around forever. I wrote one back in 1989.

I keep getting "Final Warning" emails saying my email account is full so I should follow the link to fill in information to get my email account verified. I just ignore them all.

One other piece of advice. Turn on two factor authentication on your google account. This uses your mobile to back up the password via a txt and will help prevent you getting scammed if you are unfortunate enough to enter passwords in the wrong place.

+1 to the two factor authentication. You can authorise your home pc, tablet, mobile to only use one, but using anything else sends a text to your mobile. Quite useful.
