Anyone know of a decent VW garage in the south east??

i've a coolant leak and i think its the head gasket so want to get it checked out. The VW specialist i went to have found no external leak and couldn't do anything else.

The VW garage in Woking want to charge 110 + VAT per hour to look at it!! Apparently it could take 2 hours, so 260 just to (possibly) find the problem.

The cars 11 years old so nuts to that.

I used to use Automotive Solutions in Sonning Eye near Reading for my old Mk2 GTI a few years ago. Very helpful chap and cheap rates. I presume he's still operating.

Try The Phirm in Hook. A decent bunch of guys, mainly ex VW mechanics. They recently did some work on my wife's mk4 Golf and I was very pleased with the standard and quality of service.

AUDI garage:

part costs X,
parts + labour cost = X + (Xx10) = arm, leg and first born child

Your better of with your local garage IMO.

I few minor warning lights came on on my A3 (emission control system, glow plugs etc).

Parts were around £100, total estimated bill came to over £900, told them to get stuffed. (they also found lots of other stuff they said "needed" doing, but the car was totally safe to drive).

Organic355...That WAS a local garage, and cash!

My own fault. It's an RS6 and front end of the car needs to come off for every bloody job!
