right, getting closer to deciding which motability car to lease.
Pretty much settled on a smallish volvo because of their safety and various cabin filters, and allergen stuff.
So we can get the Volvo c30 r design 3 door, OR the s40 saloon r design.
Both would be the 1.6 (not bothered about performance)
the 3 door has the bigger boot but is £200 more expensive, the saloon doesnt fit on my drive, the 3 door does.
Anyone driven either (testdrive booked next week)?
Opinions pls?
I'd go c30 easily
My mate just got a v70 on motability for very little contribution. Can find out details if interested.
I had the V50 which is the estate version, and discounding the engine and economy as it was the 2.0tdi, it was a good car.
Handling was excellent, the stereo was superb and I mean really good, that was on the SE model.
The front seats were not very supportive, the VAG seats wedge you in like a Recaro seat which I like, the Volvo ones don't so you have to hang on tight if you don't want to slip around.
The C30 is the more stylish of the two. However,if you need to carry anything in the boot, you will struggle.
....perhaps it depends on the mobility of the driver/passenger ???
I have just got replaced my V50 after 3.5 years of driving. circa 120k miles and it was very very good.
Not hugely inspiring but functioned superbly. Considering the C30 / S40 / V50 are all the same car underneath (Ford Focus) I am sure either you will be pleased with either.
As they are the same car mechanically the decision should be just based on which you prefer the look of & which has the functionality you need.
I really liked the C30 when it was launched & even considered buying one but now my eye is on the new Scirocco...
The R-Design and T5 versions of the C30 are the best ones in my opinion, good looking car and its true the boot is small but its a better format for loading the S40.
i am driving, the missus struggles with mobility, but we can fit a wheel chair in either.
the boot is bigger on the c30 and its lighter, quicker, better looking....
decision made then, pending it driving ok
cheers all
