Ey up!

Main pc (notebook) is toast, so using 2nd (notebook) sporting only a DVD drive.

I need CD reading compatibility; can anyone suggest a bodge get one of these

...to run in Vista?

Generally, a DVD drive will read CDs, yes. I suppose there might possibly be drives out there that are DVD-only, but I don't recall ever seeing one.

If that is the case, what's the problem with the Freecom? Drivers?
