Probably been done before.
Would like a reasonably priced package (under £50) for editing GoPro Hero 1080p footage. I'm not looking to do anything special, trim, fade, over-lap, overlay music, balance colours and brightness etc.
Lost the rag with Windows Movie Maker (I have to convert the GoPro video files first). The cheapest "proper" one I can spot:

i've been really pleased with pinnacle studio ... ok, i bought the ultimate verson, but the magic bullet looks you get as a plugin make a big difference to being able to give your videos a styled look
