just ordered a headcam (GoPro wide) and want to know what editing software people recommend
i really only want to do basic editing and adding music
what do you recommend - free or otherwise

windows movie maker aint bad at all

only thing you can't seem to do in it is reverse clips

there's a couple of free tools that'll do that

Movie Maker gets my vote. Unless you're on Vista you will need a separate program to author a DVD though.
